Hula hooping their way to active health and friendship

VOLUNTEERS from community group Helping Hands has launched a new fun initiative to get people together and keep active.

One of their volunteers, Carol Kilgannon, took on a hula hoop challenge during August,

Each day she would hula hoop away -using a weighted “smart hoop” for 30 minutes.
She posted videos and photographs on social media – and lots of people wanted to get involved.
So Helping Hands bought some smart hoops – a weighted hoop that has a ball that spins as you hoop – hired the Green Cabin in Orford Park and started weekly sessions
It costs £2 per person per session to take part in the Monday night sessions which last for an hour from 5.30 pm.

Carol said: “It’s just a fun way to get people together and be active.
“We have members aged from 30 to 71! And we have plenty more room for anyone else who wants to get involved.”
