Fire crews help rescue man from River Mersey at Wharf Street

FIVE fire crews were involved in an operation to rescue a man from the River Mersey at Wharf Street, Warrington, last night.

At around 8.20pm five fire engine attended – from Warrington, Lymm, Widnes and two from Penketh – as did a water incident unit from Warrington and a line rescue unit from Lymm, following reports of a man being in the River Mersey off Wharf Street in Warrington.



A raft was used to get to the man.
Firefighters then got him out of the water and took him back to dry land at the side of the river.
The man was assessed by paramedics before being handed over to the care of paramedics.
Firefighters were in attendance for less than half-an-hour.
