THERE were further delays on the motorway networks around Warrington this morning following a collision and stranded lorry on the M6 and a car fire on the M62.
There were five-mile tailbacks on the M6 southbound J21 to J20 following the collision on Thelwall Viaduct.
While all lanes have re-opened further delays were caused by a stranded lorry on the M6 southbound J21A (CroftInterchange M62) to J21 (Woolston Warrington)
Two lanes were also closed on the westbound carriageway of the M62 due to a car fire.
The incident happened between junction 11 for Birchwood and junction 10 for the M6 at Croft Interchange.
Firefighters attended to a car well alight on the M62 westbound carriageway between junction 10 to junction nine.
Wearing one breathing apparatus, a hose reel was used to put out the flames.
A thermal imaging camera checked the Fiat Punto’s temperature and crews continued to damp down.
The fire is believed to have been caused by overheating in engine compartment.
