FORMER Warrington South MP Faisal Rashid has been elected Chair of the Warrington South Constituency Labour Party.
The Warrington South Constituency Labour Party elected 13 new officers at its annual general meeting last week which was held on Zoom because of the continuing coronavirus pandemic.
Mr Rashid, was elected Chair and takes over from Cllr Maureen McLaughlin who has stepped down after successfully leading the Warrington South CLP during the pandemic.
Mr Rashid, a financial consultant, said: “It has been my honour and privilege to have served as a Parish Councillor, Borough Councillor, Mayor and Member of Parliament here in Warrington the town I love. I am now honoured to have been chosen to chair the Warrington South CLP.
“Over the next 12 months my priorities will be to take Warrington South forward building on our successes of holding Warrington in the recent Council elections.
“I want to strengthen the partnership between the constituencies of Warrington North and Warrington South, promoting Warrington Labour and working together to make Warrington, our town, an even better place to live, work, bring up a family and enjoy retirement.”
Mr Rashid thanked all retiring members of the executive committee and congratulated newly and re-elected members.
