Three fire crews called out to tackle sofa blaze

FIREFIGHTERS wearing breathing apparatus tackled a sofa blaze at a property in Orford, Warrington, during the early hours of this morning.

Shortly before 4am three fire engines from Warrington, Stockton Heath and Penketh were called to reports of fire at a house on Sandy Lane West in Orford.
On arrival crews found a sofa which was well alight.
Two firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, they then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.
Crews were detained at the scene for around two hours.
Meanwhile, at 8pm last night one crew from Warrington used a hose reel jet to extinguish a small fire involving a quantity of rubbish in a field off Watery Lane, Winwick.
The crew was detained at the scene for around 30 minutes.
