Two people rescued from car as firefighters and police tackle various flooding issues across Warrington

FIREFIGHTERS and police have been kept busy throughout the day dealing with various flooding incidents across Warrington, including rescuing two people from a car stuck in floodwaters.

Shortly after 3pm One fire engine from Warrington was called out following reports of two people being stuck in a car on Hollins Lane, Winwick.
On arrival the crew found a car stuck in floodwater. A man and woman were rescued by the crews.
Road closures are in place on Hollins Lane at the junction of Watery Lane.
Then at 3.45pm firefighters were informed of floodwater affecting the electrics of a house in Mustard Lane, Croft, Warrington.
A Station Manager went to investigate. They isolated the electricity supply to the property, moved items of value from the ground floor to the first floor and gave the occupiers advice.
They did the same at the house next door, which was also affected by the flooding.
At around 3.30pm two fire engines attended from Stockton Heath and Birchwood following reports of flooding affecting properties in the Hood Lane area.
On arrival the crew liaised with partner agencies. Sandbags have been handed out to properties and a pump was being used to move water away from the area.
Earlier in the day, shortly after 9am firefighters were called following reports of flooding at a property on Grant Close.
On arrival, the crew found flooding to the ground floor of the property.
The crew liaised with the homeowners and began digging at the rear of the property to try and divert the water away.
Firefighters then worked to pump the water from the property.
The local authority was also in attendance and lay sandbags.
Various Roads across Warrington including Old Liverpool Road (pictured) have been closed.
