PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have put off a decision on proposals to extend a car wash – even though the extension has already been built and is already in use.
Members of the borough council’s development management committee decided they wanted more information about the scheme in Manchester Road, Fairfield.
The committee was told that local councillors Tony Higgins and Jean Flaherty were concerned that the site had been over-developed and that there could be noise issues.
Two nearby residents had also objected to the scheme.
The committee was told the car wash was within the site of a petrol station. Planning officers believed the retrospective application should be permitted because it was not hamful to the appearance of the area nor to the street scene.
They believed the provision of a timber fence would protect the privacy of residents of nearby Conway Drive.
The existing car was had been extended to include a hand and jet wash facility and valet activities.
After hearing of the concerns of local councillors and residents, the committee decided to defer a decision.
They also deferred a decision on a separate application for signage advertising the service
