Cairo Street set to be closed for three weeks due to sinkhole

A Warrington town centre street is set to be closed for up to three weeks following the appearance of a sinkhole at the weekend.

Police had to close the full length of Cairo Street on Sunday afternoon following the appearance of a sinkhole which was caused by a sewer collapse.

United Utilities are currently working at the site.

Cairo Street, between St Austin’s Lane and Rylands Street, is expected to be closed for up to three weeks.
