WARRINGTON Wolves have paid tribute to inspirational young fan Josh Morris who has sadly died.
Josh, aged 11, suffered from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy but didn’t let it stop him living life to the full and being an inspiration to all those who knew him.
A club statement read :”Everyone at the club is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of young Warrington Wolves supporter Josh Morris.
“Josh suffered from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy but remained a keen Warrington supporter throughout his life. He sadly lost his brave battle last night, aged just 11 years old.
“He would have celebrated his 12th birthday next Friday, and was set to be the team mascot at our fixture against Leigh Centurions on Friday evening. We will now celebrate Josh’s life at this fixture and details will be released tomorrow after speaking with his family.”
Club CEO Karl Fitzpatrick said: “I met Josh a number of times and was always taken aback by his bravery. His love for Warrington Wolves was incredible.
“I’ll never forget when we arranged for Ben Westwood to take him to his prom, he was absolutely delighted. He touched so many people and will be missed by many at Warrington Wolves. Our thoughts are with Josh’s family at this sad time.”
Josh was also an inpiration to his many friends at Warrington Disability Partnership, where Chief Executive Dave Thompson described him as “Inspirational.”
It was just last July when Josh was escorted to his prom by Bennie Westwood.
Last year Josh also completed 32 lengths at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub to help raise funds for Warrington Disability Partnership during their 25th anniversary year.
