Station plans re-vamped after public consultation

PLANS for the proposed Warrington West railway station have been re-vamped following a consultation exercise carried out by the borough council.
The aim is to address issues brought up by residents during the consultation.
The car park has been redesigned to take account of concerns raised about anti-social driving in the car park and also that the car park entrance was too close to residential properties.
The council has re-designed the car park to move the access point further from homes on Belvedere Drive.
Feedback from the consultation also indicated that people found the requirement to travel from Sankey for Penketh Station to Warrington West unappealing. In response, the council has commissioned design work to consider improvements to the walking and cycling route.
Some residents have said they are concerned about the reduction in service levels at Sankey for Penketh station.
Warrington Borough Council has re-affirmed a commitment to continue to
lobby the rail industry for improvements to the proposed service levels at Sankey for Penketh station.
A council spokesman said:  “Finally, local residents said they were concerned about the impact of rail users parking on nearby streets. The Council is investigating the extent and arrangements for Traffic Regulation Orders to minimise parking on neighbouring residential streets to help mitigate this issue.”
