WARRINGTON Wolves crashed to their third consecutive defeat of the season to Huddersfield Giants as they went down 48-10 at the John Smiths Stadium.

Trailing 18-0 at the break the Wolves did stage a mini fightback in the second half with tries from Bennie Westwood and Roy Asotasi, with Chris Sandow converting one.

But Huddersfield, who still have a chance of making the Grand Final, never looked in any real danger, especially with the Wolves suffering a number of injuries early on.

Warrington started brightly enough as Westwood was held up over the line in the third minutes.roy-asotasti2

Then on six minutes a Sandow grubber kick was grounded in goal by the Giants and a minute later Westwood attempted to chase up his own kick to the line but the ball bounced out.

The Giants forced a repeat set in the ninth minute and a looping pass out to the left saw winger Murphy over the corner with Danny Brough slotting over a touchline conversion to make it 6-0.

Warrington then suffered a double injury set back losing Wheeler and Monaghan.

On 26 minutes the Giants thought they had a try under the sticks but it was ruled out – but a minute later they were over in the right hand corner through McGillvary. Brough was again on target to make it 12-0.

On 34 minutes McGillvary crossed for his second with Brough again making no mistake to make it 18-0.

Two minutes after the break McGillvary completed his hat-trick with Brough wide this time from the touchline making it 22-0.

It was pretty much game over two minutes later as the Giants crossed again through Wardle, with Brough again off target.

On 53 minutes Warrington eventually got over the whitewash through Westwood but Sandow was wide with the kick.

Five minutes later they were over again as Asotasi took short pass from Ratchford to force his way over. Sandow added the extras.

But within two minutes the Giants were back on top as Murphy reached out in the tackle to claim his second try. Ellis was wide with the conversion making it 30-10.

Two minutes later Murphy slid in for his hat-trick with Ellis adding the extras.

It was now one way traffic as McGillvary went over for his 4th try, with Ellis adding another goal to make it 42-10 with Ellis then adding a try and a conversion in the 73rd minute to make it 48-10.
