SHANE Meadows’ highly anticipated documentary The Stone Roses: Made of Stone, about the reformation of the band, will feature footage from Warrington’s Parr Hall.
The film, which opens at cinemas nationwide on June 5 will include material from The Stone Roses’ first gig in 16 years which took place at Parr Hall in May last year.
Some Warrington fans attending the gig and featured in the film have been selected for exclusive tickets to the premier in Manchester. Images of the chosen fans have been posted on the film’s official Facebook and Twitter pages.
Parr Hall became the focal point for the UK’s media on May 23 last year when the band announced a last-minute show. The gig was announced at 4pm on the day and fans from all over the country descended on Warrington to queue for tickets for the exclusive performance.
Fans were required to produce a CD inlay cover, record sleeve, official band T-Shirt or a ticket for the Reunion Tour shows to get a free wristband to attend.
On the night the band filled the venue performing tracks from their iconic first album titled The Stone Roses.
The Stone Roses were so taken with Parr Hall in Ian Brown’s home town that in February they chose the venue to rehearse for their world tour. They were at the Warrington venue for three days ahead of their performance in Dubai.
The film’s premier will take place at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on Thursday May 30. It will also be satellite linked to 100 cinemas nationwide with fans being given the chance to ask Shane Meadows questions via Twitter.
