LESS than 12 hours after their Warrington pit stop “Fab 4” Pop Star Gary Barlow, former Warrington DJ Chris Evans, Top Gear motoring expert James May and science guru Prof Brian Cox completed their 24-hour Lands End to John O’Groats FAB1 charity drive in a bid to raise £1 million for Breast Cancer Care.
More than 600 fans braved the cold to welcome them at 5.30am yesterday (Friday) while eleven hours earlier hundreds had packed into the Old Fish Market at Warrington’s Golden Square to welcome the stars.
It was a rare return to Warrington for Chris Evans (pictured top) who was taking part in the fund-raising event because his mother Minnie who used to live in Padgate, has suffered from breast cancer.
Meanwhile Take That star and X-Factor judge Gary Barlow got on stage to perform Back For Good to the delight of many fans.
Golden Square’s general manager, Ian Cox, said: “The atmosphere was fantastic and it was great to see the town come together for such a worthy cause. Watching the superstars of radio, TV and music and seeing the crowds reactions was
brilliant. It also touched everyone’s hearts to see the breast cancer survivors turn out to share their stories and show their courage. It was a truly inspiring event.
