A RED 1960s double decker bus arrived in Warrington – to flag up the problem of how global tax dodging is hurting the poor.
The Tax Justice Bus, run by Christian Aid and Church Action on Poverty, parked in front of the Town Hall on the last day of a 53-day tour of the UK and Ireland.
Numerous local people climbed on board, including the Mayor, Cllr Steve Wright, and the Bishop of Warrington, the Right Rev Richard Blackburn.
All visitors were invited to learn how tax dodging by multinational companies costs developing countries at least $160 billion a year. Tax dodging also impacts the UK, with £35 billion uncollected.
