WARRINGTON Borough Council is seeking 27 new apprentices to join the organisation in a variety of different roles and services.
Roles in administration and finance as well as in catering, vehicle maintenance, children’s centres, transport, parks, waste, care, youth and neighbourhood teams are up for grabs.
Closing date for applications is Monday October 22.
The vacancies are open to all, however, applications from 16 to 24-year-olds and unemployed people living in the local area are particularly encouraged.
The first batch of apprentices will start later this year and their rates of pay will reflect national minimum wage dependant on age – currently £3.68 per hour for 16-17 year olds, £4.98 for 18-20 year olds, £6.19 for those aged 21 or more.
Cllr Terry O’Neill, leader of the council said: “The scheme offers the chance to gain real life experiences of the world of work and nationally-recognised qualifications at the same time. It provides huge benefits for the apprentices and the authority and I would encourage other local employers to further create opportunities like this in our town.”

Put them straight into senior roles – they couldn’t do a worse job ;-(
It is good to see the Council now recognizes the benefits of apprentices working towards
"nationally-recognised qualifications ".
