A WARRINGTON author, who has written more than 20 books, has launched his own website to promote his work.
Former probation officer Eric Brady, of Great Sankey, set up the site, www.ericbradybooks.co.uk to have more control over the production of his work.
He said: “It’s on the Internet that the future of publishing lies, so that’s why I’m so keen on it. It’s quicker, cheaper, and the author can control all stages from beginning to end. And downloading e-books is even better!”
Eric was born in London and moved to Warrington with his family in 1999, five years after he retired.
He has written two autobiographies, the first about being evacuated to South Wales during the Second World War, and the second about his life as a probation officer.
The first tells of what it was really like to be an unwanted evacuee during the war. It tells how he was taken back to London and was caught in a bombing incident four months later at school. He sister was killed and he was listed as “severely injured.”
He appeared in two BBC programmes The Week We Went To War (2009) and The Shooting War (2010) which featured the incident. Both are still occasionally screened on the Yesterday Channel.
The second book tells about his work as a probation officer. His job also gave him the background for other satirical books featuring “crooks, cops and courts.” He has also written several Science Fiction books for young adults, and is currently working on the third book of a family saga.
