“EMPTY nesters” in Warrington are being targeted in a new campaign to recruit more foster carers.
The borough council has joined in the North West “You Can Foster” campaign which seeks to persuade parents whose children have left home to go to university or to start work away from home.
More mature people are becoming carers and the campaign is hoping to attract people in their late 40s and early 50s who already have invaluable parenting skills.
Cllr Colin Froggatt, Warrington Borough Council’s executive member for children and young people’s services, said: “The council is proud to back this innovative campaign which has already resulted in a number of newly approved foster carers for our fostering service.
“Mature foster carers have so much to offer and we hope people continue to get in touch.”
The campaign is aiming to encourage discussion about fostering through its popular Facebook and Twitter presence, with the ultimate goal of recruiting more carers for children in need.
