HEAVY rain is causing a number of flooding problems throughout the Warrington area following warnings by the Environment Agency.
The Densham Avenue area of the town has been badly affected with flooding on Cromwell Avenue also causing traffic congestion earlier today.
Earlier today the Environment Agnecy flagged up a number of concerns with Sankey Brook named as a watercourse expected to cause flooding where immediate action was required.
Areas badly affected include Dallam and on the Gemini industrial park.
Individual roads affected or on alert at Dallam were Chepstow Close, Colwyn Close, Higham Avenue, Tavlin Avenue, Hodgkinson Avenue, Marshall Avenue, Hawleys Lane, and Mullen Close.
At Gemini, the areas most at risk were Europa Boulevard at the Gemini industrial park.
Residents of a number of other nearby areas have been alerted to possible flooding and told “Be prepared.”
The most seriously affected area so far has been Hawleys Lane, which has been closed to traffic.
But other areas where flooding has taken place include Great Sankey and Croft.

The matrix sign at Bridge Foot (8.30am today) said ‘Cromwell Avenue flooded take alternative route’. Don’t know if it’s still flooded though.
It was certainly still flooded at 9am this morning as it delayed members of our team getting into work!
