Restaurant to close

ONE of the longest-established Indian restaurants in the Warrington area has announced that it is to close within the next few weeks.
The Hilal Restaurant, in Walton Road, Stockton, opened its doors more than 30 years ago.
In a statement, the restaurant says: “The Hilal has been serving the community for more than 30 years and has played an integral parts in the growth and success of Stockton Heath.
“We have been at the heart of Indian cuisine in the village, having had the pleasure of serving generations of clientele “
The Hilal was originally in the centre of the village, in Victoria Square. But when the village centre was redeveloped, the restaurant moved to Walton Road.
An influx of restaurants and café bars followed the redevelopment and this increased competition in the centre probably diverted potential customers away.
The recession is also believed to have reduced the number of people dining out.
But the Hilal restaurant at Timperley is still operating and the company is hoping loyal customers will be prepared to travel there.
