Fun day organisers want cricket weather

0

IT’S not unusual for them to be praying for good weather at Lymm Oughtrington Park Cricket Club’s ground in Oughtrington. After all, cricket and rain seem to go together in this country!
But club officials have more reason than usual today – for tomorrow is the club’s giant Jubilee family fun day and charity cricket match.
The Met Office is giving a gloomy forecast – but organisers are hoping they are wrong. And praying!
The event will raise money for Help the Heroes and will feature Coronation Street and
Hollyoaks stars, former boy band singer Antony Costa and loads of family entertainment.
Among the features on offer will be:
*Gulliver’s World family picnic zone with entertainers and mascots
*Total Fitness family sports zone
*Build-a-bear children’s play area
*Mini fun-fair with roller coaster, trampolines and mini big wheel.
A feature of the day will be a Twenty20 cricket match between a Lymm Oughtrington Park XI and a team of TV and sporting celebrities and it is understood the celebrity team will be strengthened by Aussie star Stuart Law and also an England Test star.
It has also been announced that not only will the former Blue star Antony Costa be performing live but that fans will get a chance to meet him.
There will be plenty of other fun activities, including a charity auction and competitions with “money can’t buy” prizes.
People can either take their own picnic or order a hamper prepared by celebrity chef Aiden Byrne.
There will also be facepainting, a barbecue, bouncy castles, a City FM roadshow and a kwik cricket contest between local primary schools.
More details are available on the club’s website www.lymmopcc.hitscricket.com
Tickets are now on sale in the village but will also be available at the gate tomorrow.
