WARRINGTON Disability Partnership achieved great success at a prestigious awards ceremony to mark Adult Learners Awards Week.
Guests enjoyed a glittering afternoon at the Fir Grove Hotel, Grappenhall with events were compered by broadcaster
Pete Pinnington and awards presented by Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Mike Biggin.
The week, organised by Life Long Learning at Warrington Borough Council, recognised and celebrated extraordinary learning achievements by individuals and groups across Warrington.
WDP service user Christine Newsham won The John Tickle Disabled Learners Award. She completed a Functional Skills in ICT Level One last year and is currently working towards a Level Two.
WDP tutor Maria McPartland said: “Christine Newsham is one of those learners a tutor loves to teach. Her joy of learning is infectious. She can often be heard exclaiming ‘Get in!’ when she achieves something difficult”.
The Mayor also presented nomination certificates to the WDP Supported Employment Project group, Functional Skills in IT group and Kim Howard – all very worthy contenders.
Clive Crossingham, a WDP volunteer on the Wizard narrowboat, gave an inspirational talk about his “Learning Journey.”
He spoke about his illness, recovery and volunteering, as detailed in his book Life Coaching.
The Mayor presented the WDP Learning Centre at Beaufort Street with a Certificate of Achievement for being nominated in the National Adult Learners Awards.
