A POPULAR Warrington running club is hoping to attract new members with the launch of a Spring Training Initiative.
Spectrum Striders’ new initiative provides a complete plan of coaching, training and advice, aimed at complete beginners.
Places are available on the scheme, which is open to both men and women and runs until July. It aims to train runners from novice to being able to run a 5 Km race.
It offers group coaching in everything needed to run for fitness, stamina and fun, a club branded bath towel and entry to one of three local 5km races, for a total cost of £20.
After the course participants will be able to join the club at a reduced fee.
Coaching sessions are on Tuesdays at 7pm at Victoria Park, Thursdays at 7pm at Birchwood High School and Sundays at 10am at Victoria Park.
Further details are on the website at www.spectrumstriders.org.uk

Well done Spectrum for this initiative – good to see so many out on Easter Saturday for the Rivington Pike Fell race – you all left me crawling up the hill to the tower on my hand and knees. Last Sunday at Whitley there was another good turnout for the 10k race – but a brilliant win by my old club Warrington’s Daniel Cliffe in a great time of 31:59. I puffed around for the 5k in 25:28 gone are the days when I could do a sub 15 minutes. Doesn’t father time catch you up fast?

I’m looking forward to taking part in some of many races this year.
