MAJOR extensions to Lymm High School will be considered by the borough council’s planning committee on Wednesday (April 13).
The scheme includes a two-storey extension to the sixth form block and a single-storey extension to the front of the school.
The larger extension, to the sixth form block, will replace a single-storey timber classroom. The other will replace an existing conservatory structure and will provide improved student library facilities.
Planning officers say there will be no loss of trees, sports pitches or formal parking areas and the developments will not effect the original school building which is Grade II listed.
One nearby resident has objected on the grounds of noise and claims the school is a “poor neighbour.”
They claim the school does little to discourage litter and smoking – particularly by sixth formers.
Ward councillor Sheila Wooydatt says she is fully supportive of what is an excellent scheme but calls for an adequate landscaping scheme and protection for a nearby rookery.
Officers are recommending the scheme be approved.
