WARRINGTON Wolves have moved quickly to replace Jimmy Lowes by appointing former Wakefield and Leeds star Willie Poching as their new assistant coach.
Poaching, 37, left Leeds Rhinos backroom team in the summer and is also head coach of the Samoan national side and has worked previously under Smith when they were both at Headingley.
He said: “I’m looking forward to working with world-class players once again.
“The club has had some successes in the past and I’m sure there’s more just round the corner. I’m excited and ready to play my part within the club.”
Poching was forced to retire whilst at Headingley due to a serious knee injury.
Commenting on the new appointment Smith said: “I’m really looking forward to working with Willie again.
“Having worked with him before I know his enthusiasm and knowledge of the game. He can bring a lot to our side and will help us become a better team and club.”
