THE Warrington-based Cheshire Search and Rescue Team needs “rescuing” itself.
It faces the prospect of becoming homeless after being told it has seven days to move its Warrington storage facility following a change of ownership.
The team, a member of the Association of Lowland Search and Rescue, now urgently needs new premises to store its gear.
Members of the team offer 24/7 support to Cheshire Police and the police are now returning the team’s support by joining the hunt for new storage facilities.
Joanne McClure, the team’s chairman, said: “Today is a very sad day for the team. Storage facilities are vital to the running of the team as we offer a wide range of services to the local emergency services and consequently have lots of equipment.
“This is devastating news for us and we are now seeking help from as many people as possible in our hunt for new storage.
“We are grateful to Cheshire Police for the help they are currently giving by looking to see if they have any spare storage but if any one can offer us a unit that would be fantastic.”
The team, which was formed in 2004 provides specialist support to Cheshire Police and other emergency services in missing person searches or in major incident support.
Anyone can help with any kind of storage facility should contact the team by email on info@Cheshire-sarteam.org or via Twitter or Facebook. They will consider locations anywhere in Cheshire.
