JUST over 70 per cent of A Level pupils at Warrington gained A-C grades, the borough council has announced.
More than 97 per cent of pupils passed with grades A-E.
There were 300 more A Level entries in the borough this year compared to last.
Results from level 3 vocational courses such as National Diplomas, National Certificates and NVQs are still being processed so the results so far announced are interim.
Nearly 80 per cent of GCSE pupils achieved five A-C grades, excluding English and Maths, compared with just over 77 per cent last year. Sixty two per cent achieved five five A-C grade, including English and Maths, up from 59 per cent last year.
There was an overall increase of 2.1 per cent, exceeding the target of two per cent and eight out of 12 schools improved on last year’s results.
Coun Sheila Woodyatt (pictured), the council’s executive member for Education and Young People said: “We are delighted with the excellent A level and GCSE results achieved by our students.
“Our interim results indicate that Warrington continues to be a borough where a high quality of education is provided and our students continue to set a shining example.
“These great results are a credit to all the hard work and determination shown by students and the excellent teaching and support from teachers, school staff, governors and parents – we are very proud of them and wish them the best of luck for the future.”
