WARRINGTON band The 66 has been chosen to headline the Saturday night of this year’s Warrington Music Festival.
The local band will spearhead the rock night on Saturday July 17, playing tracks from their upcoming album including their debut single and fan favourite “Bordello”.
Dozens of other acts will take part in the festival, bringing a wide variety of music to thousands of people across the region on July 17-18 – and it’s all free.
The event, organised by Pyramid & Parr Hall and Warrington Music Collective, will take place in the Old Marketplace at the Golden Square Shopping Centre.
It also includes acoustic daytime performances taking place from 1-5pm on both days.
Saturday night starts from 6.30pm when a variety of rock and indie bands will take to the stage while Sunday night will see performances starting at 5.30pm and includes a headline set by hotly tipped Irish band “Jody has a Hitlist”.
Steve Oates, of the Warrington Music Collective commented: “The Warrington Music Festival is a great opportunity for people to enjoy fantastic music and performances for free. The event is now in it’s fourth year and continues to go from strength to strength.”
The 66, who have been compared to a merge between The Doors and Rolling Stones, are also celebrating a boost to their future with a recent announcement.
Lead singer Danny Rimmer said: “As we’ve just been signed to a new label, Outlier Records, this is a very exciting time for us, and the Warrington Music Festival is a great opportunity to give something back to all our local supporters who’ve helped to get us where we are. It’s going to be a fantastic gig and we can’t wait to be part of it.”
Lyndsay Patino, marketing manager at Pyramid and Parr Hall added: “This event is giving us the opportunity to get all of the community involved and enjoying performance and music created right on our doorstep. I’m sure the 66 will be a very popular headline act and will bring the Saturday night of the free event to a fantastic climax!”
