PUPILS from a Warrington school learned how maths can relate to production engineering when they visited Jaguar Land Rover Cars, in Liverpool.
A group of 17 Year 10 pupils from William Beamont High visited the site and were given a talk by education staff.
Following a health and safety brief, the youngsters were kitted out in high visibility vests and safety glasses and went on a guided tour of the site. They returned to the education centre for a maths quiz and a presentation on how science and maths is used to develop new products.
The event was organised by Aimhigher Cheshire and Warrington, which aims to widen participation in higher education by young people from under-represented groups.
Vocational development officer Teresa Wong said: “The pupils had a fantastic time at Jaguar Land Rover. They found it most interesting to see how cars are being manufactured.
“As well as watching engineers at work, they also saw the latest robotics technology. This event will no doubt inspire many of our learners to go into engineering in the future. We would like to thank the Jaguar Land Rover staff for their invaluable contribution to this event.”
