STUDENTS at Warrington are to celebrate the Motown era with a special gig.
Young musicians from Priestley College will stage the show performing music from artists such as Stevie Wonder and The Jackson Five. Profits raised will go towards the college’s Mozambique Appeal.
As part of their BTEC Music course, the students formed their own production company, Nevermind Productions, and have been involved in all aspects of planning, public relations, ticket sales and event management for the gig.
The night is being marketed to an under 18s audience, with an authentic bar scene from the era and waitresses serving non-alcoholic drinks.
Tutor Michael Grainger said: “All year the students have put their efforts into the course and have produced some excellent gigs throughout including a performance at The Cavern Club in Liverpool.
“Differing from the other gigs the group have performed in, the Motown event adds something new and more creative, as the students will be planning it all themselves.”
It takes place at the college on Wednesday June 16 with tickets priced £4.50. Tickets are available by emailing Michael Grainger on m.grainger@priestley.ac.uk

Why just the young ones? This is the music that a lot of 60 year olds grew up with.
Congratulations to the lads. Does it have a start time?
cos you silver haired lot cause too much trouble, hanging around in gangs, drinking your alcho-stouts and and caps covering your faces.
