Warehouse extension plan

2

PLANNING chiefs are to consider proposals for a warehouse extension and alterations to a service yard at the Asda store at Westbrook, Warrington.
The matter is to be brought before the borough council’s planning sub-committee at the request of local councillor David Earl, who is concerned about highway safety and limited consultation with neighbours.
Asda propose to enlarge the existing covered warehouse, re-grade part of the service yard and remove existing gates. A canopy will be built over the area used by vehicles delivering internet orders.
Planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved.
They say there is currently no designated loading area for delivery vehicles and the changes will allow more efficient, less time consuming deliveries, removing the problem of lorries parking on double yellow lines in Westbrook Crescent.

  1. In the 20 years I’ve lived on Westbrook Crescent I don’t recall ever seeing a lorry parked on double yellows :/ Pathetic excuse.. no doubt this council will once again pander to the demands of Asda and let this one through!

  2. ……………..”removing the problem of lorries parking on double yellow lines in Westbrook Crescent.”………….. I too live very very close to the Westbrook Centre and have on occasion seen lorries parked on the road leading to the ASDA delivery entrance; especially at the time when kids are being dropped off or picked up from the school. A quick word in their thick heads gets them to move. But of course there are always the traffic wardens and maybe WBC can explain why they haven’t been deployed
