Cricket club stumped!

BOROUGH council highways chiefs have turned down a request for a sign to help visiting teams find Glazebury Cricket Club’s Hurst Lane ground.
Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council had suggested a sign to be attached to an existing pole – but the borough said “No”.
Coun Keith Bland said: “The cost of providing a sign with its own pole would be prohibitive.”

  1. Just the sort of answer you would expect from a politician, I bet he hasn’t a clue how much it would cost.cost. A much better answer would have been that it would cost £xxx which at this current time is out of the question.”

Perhaps the supportive Parish Council can come up with the cash.

It makes for interesting conversation at the breakfast table between Borough Councillor Bland and his Parish Councillor wife.

As an aside ,it always quotes “Borough Council Highways chiefs, how many chiefs were needed to make the decision?

  2. So put the sign on the existing pole that was also mentioned. Signs are NOT expensive anyway but it the Borough Council can’t afford it (from all the council tax they are given) maybe they will allow the club to have their own small sign made and attach it themselves to the existing pole….. or probably not !?!?
