Firefighters raise £1,000

FIREFIGHTERS battled to blast the dirt from grubby cars when charity car washes took place at Warrington, Birchwood and Stockton Heath Fire Stations on Saturday.
Over £1,000 was raised in the fundraiser which was part of a national event. Drivers were also offered free road safety advice at the fun day.
A firefighter at Warrington said: “It was a great event, especially for the kids, as the cars actually drove through the fire engine bays as they were washed. It was good fun and we were busy all day.”
“We had the Fire Cadets helping us out with big buckets of soapy water and then we blasted the cars with the fire hoses!”
Chair of the Fire Fighters Charity and deputy chief fire officer, Mark Cashin, said: “The charity car wash is a great way to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity which has provided assistance to serving and retired Firefighters for more than 60 years and also increase awareness of road safety.”
