THREE men brandishing knives got away with a large amount of cash from a Warrington bank.
The raiders burst into the Halifax Bank in Dewhurst Road, Birchwood, threatened staff and forced them to open a safe before fleeing in a blue Vauxhall Astra.
Police are now seeking witnesses of the incident at 12.15pm yesterday (Thursday) or anyone who has any knowledge of the car, which has the registration prefix of MFO2.
The car was found abandoned later in Hamnet Court, Birchwood.
All three men involved carried knives – described as kitchen-type knives with 10 inch blades.
All were in their early 20s and wearing black clothing with their faces concealed by black balaclavas. They were slim, of medium height and spoke with Liverpool accents.
Anyone who can help is asked to call DC James Pullen on 0845 458 0000 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
