A 15-year-old girl has been crowned as Warrington’s top talent after wowing the crowds with her rendition of Jennifer Hudson’s “And I am Telling You” at Warrington Wolves’ Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Lucie Evans, a pupil at Birchwood High School, beat off strong challenges from fellow finalists Poppy Bridge, from Moore and Christine Davies, from Appleton, at the Wolves v Hull Kingstone Rovers match.
Fans were able to listen to the three performances online and Lucie claimed 900 of the 1,400 votes cast.
She will now perform in front of her fans at Wolves’ last match of the season, against Huddersfield Giants, on Saturday, September 6. She will also have the opportunity to record a CD.
The contest was sponsored by Domino’s Pizza and Peter Thompson, owner of the local store said: “Its great to be able to help Lucie and the other contestants move a step closer to fulfilling their dream.
“We will be keeping a keen eye out on their careers and supporting Lucie and the other contestants in the future.”
