A GOVERNMENT-appointed inspector has overturned a decision by Warrington planners to refuse permission to convert a takeaway shop into a restaurant.
He has ruled that the proposed restaurant in Church Lane, Culcheth will have no impact on adjoining houses and will not create parking problems because it is within easy walking distance of the village centre.
The borough council turned down an application to convert the premises some time ago after strong objections from nearby residents and from Culcheth and Glazebury parish council.
But an appeal followed – and the inspector who dealt with it has decided the change can go ahead.
He noted there had been no objection from the borough’s environmental protection department nor from the highways departments.
Even if the rear garden was used by customers for smoking purposes, the limited opening hours would mean there was no significant disturbance for neighbours.
The plan involves a single storey extension.
