Residents oppose stables plan

HEAVY vehicles passing close to homes at anti-social hours, noise, smells and vermin, are among the problems highlighted by objectors opposing plans for stables.
The application, for Nine Acre field at the rear of

Petersfield Gardens, Culcheth, is for a stable block, store room and hard standing for vehicles.
Warrington’s Development Control Committee is being recommended to approve it subject to conditions following a site visit.
An earlier scheme was thrown out by planners but the new plan has reduced the number of stables from 10 to eight.
Councillors Keith and Sue Bland and Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council complained access to the site is inadequate, there would be loss of parking, extra traffic and damage to paved areas and property caused by heavy vehicles.
They said the development was inappropriate because of its proximity to houses, and were concerned about site security and the safety of local schoolchildren and residents.
Residents of Petersfield Gardens, Richmond Close and Sutton Avenue expressed similar concerns and said the site was inadequate for the development and the development was inappropriate for the Green Belt.
Neighbours were also worried that erection of halogen lights would result in light pollution and indicated the site was to be used all day and night. They were also concerned the proposal would result in mud and horse manure being spread on the road creating a highway safety issue.
But planners say there is no evidence of significant increase in traffic or safety hazards, or that the proposal would be detrimental to the area, and that use would be restricted to non-commercial.
There was also no evidence to suggest extra noise, smells or vermin, and a condition would ensure that manure heaps were stored away from residential properties. The lights would point away from neighbouring properties.
