Police probe series of car fires

POLICE are investigating a spate of car fires in the Warrington area overnight.
Fire crews were called out on four occasions to deal with abandoned cars believed to have been dumped by youths and then set alight.
The vehicles were dumped in Thelwall Lane, Latchford, Sankey Valley Park, Wellfield Street at Whitecross and in Water Lane, Burtonwood.
Most of the cars were completely destroyed.
But police do not believe the fires were linked.
A spokesman said: “There was no evidence to suggest the same people were responsible for the four incidents.”
