A chance to kick the habit

SMOKERS in Warrington are being given the chance to kick the habit with specialist advice from the NHS Stop Smoking Service.
Tomorrow (Saturday) at Birchwood Shopping Centre and on Thursday, July 24, at the Warrington Bus Interchange, representatives from the NHS team will be on hand to give smokers help and advice on going smoke

free.
Information will be offered about available NHS services and carbon monoxide testing will be carried out to assess individuals’ level of addiction.
Lifestyle specialist for Warrington PCT, Brigid Middlehurst, said: “Over the years I have worked with many people who thought they didn’t have the strength to quit. They often think that the NHS support services are not right for them and think that the groups are going to be intimidating. However, once they start using the help and support that the local NHS Stop Smoking Services provide, people get over their pre-conceptions and successfully beat the habit. It brings a smile to my face to know that my job can help make such a positive difference to people’s lives.”
Research shows people who seek the help of the NHS, or nicotine replacement therapies, such as stop smoking medicines and patches, are four times more likely to stop smoking.
Brigid added: “It is never too late to quit. I have seen so many people go from feeling unfit and unable to keep up with their kids, to being fit and healthy in a matter of months. So, if you are thinking about stopping and want to find out more come down and see how the local NHS Stop Smoking Services can help you to quit for good.”
