Warning after spate of burglaries

POLICE at Warrington have issued a warning following a spate of burglaries involving offenders posing as utility company employees.
Five burglaries have been committed in recent times – mostly involving elderly, vulnerable residents.
The callous raiders have struck in the Padgate, Longbarn and Woolston areas.
Police believe other offences may have taken place which have not been reported.
The offenders claim to be from the water company and be investigating a reported leak.
While the householder is distracted, a second man slips into the house and steals.
A police spokesman said: “We would like to hear from anyone who has been visited by these people – even in cases where the offender has not gained admission to the house.
“Householders may have vital evidence, such as descriptions of the offenders or vehicles they are using.”
Anyone who can help should call DC Lee Harrison on 01244 615858 or call the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
