Strike hits bin collections

0

WARRINGTON Borough Council has announced there will be no bin collections today or tomorrow because of the national Unison and Unite strike.
Town hall chiefs did not know if the strike would affect refuse collections until they began work this morning.
They are now issuing an apology to all residents for the inconvenience caused.
The next collection will be on the usual day next week, with residents being allowed to present three additional side sacks for collection.
Any additional sacks will be collected by a separate vehicle, meaning there will be two visits to residents’ property.
There will also be no recycling collections for blue and green bins until the next scheduled day of collection.
Commercial waste collections will continue as normal.
