A MAN carried out a frenzied attack on his parents after forcing his way into their home.
Christopher Holmes, 34, behaved “like a raging bull” as he punched, pushed and scratched his father and mother, Warrington Crown Court was told.
Then he stole three packets of cigarettes from the post office they ran, the court heard.
Holmes, of Higham Avenue, Warrington admitted assault and theft and was given an eight month jail sentence, suspended for two years, placed under supervision for 12 months and ordered to attend a substance abuse programme.
Joanne Parsons, prosecuting, said Holmes forced his way into his parents’ flat above the post office in Lindi Avenue, Grappenhall, Warrington.
He scratched his mother’s neck and punched his father on the jaw, knocking him to the floor and causing him to suffer a diabetic fit.
His mother, Sylvia, later told police her son had behaved “like a raging bull”.
After gaining entry to the flat, Holmes sat down and watched television, despite being told to leave.
As he left, he threw bacon at his father, who was still on the floor, and took cigarettes from the post office.
Simon Leong, defending, said Holmes, who had been drinking, later showed sincere remorse and returned the following day to apologise.
Neither of his parents were seriously injured.
