PRESIDENT of Ireland Mary McAleese heaped “grateful” praise on Warrington’s pioneering peace centre
when she became the first “Head of State” to visit the living memorial to the two boys who died in the IRA bomb attack on the town in 1993.
During her visit she provided a €75,000 boost from the Irish Government towards the running costs of the centre over the next three years and pledged to look for additional funding from Ireland.
During a tour of the facility she learned about peace initiatives in the town following an invitation from peace campaigner Colin Parry and his wife Wendy who lost their son 12-year-old Tim in the bombing alongside three-year-old Jonathan Ball.
The Foundation4Peace has worked with 20,000 young people and adults to tackle some of the key issues including prejudice, discrimination and violence.
To see an exclusive video news report on the visit log on tomorrow, Friday.
