LYMM Parish Council has announced plans to curb the long-running problems of speeding on Mill Lane as a result of pressure from local residents.
Signs with the 30 miles per hour badge on them will be moved nearer to the bridge and a red warning zone will be painted on the road to give a clear indication of the speed limit.
PCSO Ian Clarke and Sergeant Steve Grace reported to the parish council that they had been carrying out speed checks at the site to capture lead-footed drivers, with the fastest offender being clocked at 50mph.
Newly elected council chairman Shelia Woodyatt said: “Speeding on Mill Lane has been a problem area for ages. The PCSOs have been out conducting speed checks and will be continuing to do so.”
Residents have been lobbying councillors for something to be done at the site and police are now hoping to see a reduction in the number of offending drivers.
The next Police Community Action meeting for residents to meet their local officers takes place on July 14 at the Village Hall.
