Art students put work on show

ARTISTIC students from a Warrington high school have been displaying their creations for a special ceremony open to the public.
Year 11 GCSE students from Birchwood High School had their work hung in corridors of the school and in the art department as part of an exhibition for parents and school governors.
All the work on display was created by Art and Design students as coursework or exam pieces.
Head of the department at the school, Helen Green said: “There are examples of fine art and endorsed art on display.
“The pieces are of a high standard this year which is tribute to the hard work put in by the students and the staff. We are looking forward to the results in August. A lot of the students are carrying on with Art and Design at college, which is a good sign.”
Overall GCSE grades for art and design are awarded for a mixture of coursework pieces and exam pieces, which is split 60/40 respectively.
