Defiant farmer poised for victory?

FARMER John Bryan who has fought – and lost – many planning battles with local councils, looks set to win for once.
Mr Bryan’s application to change the use of two barns to stables on land at Fir Tree Close, Stretton are being recommended for approval by planning officers at Warrington.
Stretton Parish Council has lodged objections because they are unhappy with highway and access arrangements but officers say there are no highway objections as the proposal is unlikely to create any additional traffic.
Mr Bryan wants to convert two large barns on Green Belt land close to the M56 motorway.
Officers say such alterations are appropriate within the Green Belt and no significant changes to the buildings are proposed.
They say the plans comply with both national and local planning policies in the Green Belt because they involve the re-use of existing buildings with no impact on the character and appearance of the Green Belt.
Mr Bryan has had numerous planning applications rejected by both Warrington and Vale Royal Councils.
On one occasions he had to demolish a number of new barns he had built and on another took his fight as far as the European Court before finally being defeated.
