Two hour blaze at timber yard

FIRE crews worked for more than two hours to control a blaze at a Warrington timber yard.
The blaze involved a large quantity of waste timber, including old railway sleepers, in an open area off Chester Road, Walton.
There was no danger of the flames spreading to property of any value but firefighters were kept busy on the site until about 9pm last night (Tuesday).
A Fire Service spokesman said it was believed the fire had started accidentally – possibly by sunlight magnified by a discarded bottle.
Two fire engines were involved in the operation.
