A WARRINGTON restaurant has been named “Best Caff” in the North West in a search for the nation’s favourite cafes.
Proprietor Michele Butterworth, of Shelly’s Restaurant, in Bold Street, attended a ceremony in the Midlands to receive her award.
Nine cafes in the North West were nominated for the regional final by their customers and Shelly’s came out on top overall.
National roofing merchant Roof Shop, who sponsored the event, said there had been an immense response to the competition, showing that the traditional “caff” was still a national institution, more than capable of holding its own with fast food outlets and European-style coffee outlets.
Michelle said: “I was delighted to win this award and would like to thank everyone who voted for me.
“It is good to know so many people still value a traditional, British café offering quality food.”
Shelly’s period-style restaurant serves traditional breakfasts in the morning, switches to a tea room in the afternoon and becomes a sophisticated restaurant in the evening.
