Dead man named

A 39-year-old man who died following a fight involving two other men and a dog has been named.
Simon Whittall, of Knutsford Road, Latchford, died from his injuries on September 11, eight days after the fight involving two other men and a dog.
Mr Whittall had been in a critical condition at Warrington Hospital following the incident on Froghall Lane near to Guardian Street in broad daylight at around 1pm on Thursday, September 3.
He and a 43-year-old man, who has not been named, received wounds from the dog, believed to be a white bull mastiff-type breed. The bite wounds were not the cause of death.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and granted police bail until October 27.
Police are appealing to all those who witnessed the fight to come forward to help with the investigation and to call Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
