Death of local playwright

THE death has occurred of Ian Hornby, playwright and chairman of the Thelwall-based Bridgewater Players.
Mr Hornby had written more than 60 plays, was a drama adjudicator for the Greater Manchester Drama Federation, organiser of the Playwright’s Co-operative and founder of dying4dinner.co.uk, a company presenting murder mysteries at venues across the North West.
Andy Rushman, ticket secretary with the Bridgewater Players, said: “This has obviously come as a great shock to us all and our thoughts and sympathy go out to Alison and both their families.
“Ian has been such a major part of the Society and his enthusiasm and bad jokes will be sorely missed.”
The funeral will be held on Friday December 27 at 10.20 am at Walton Crematorium.
