IN an exciting ceremony Woolston Primary School has formally opened its brand-new premises on Barnfield Road.
The ceremony included songs by Woolston Primary’s own pupils and a special performance by Warrington’s Signing Choir.
Former teacher Harold Bate, who taught at the school from 1957 to 1980, joined Mayor Cllr Peter Carey, in unveiling a plaque to mark the opening of the new building.
Headteacher Nick Toyne said: “Today is a very important and proud day
in the continued life of our school. This new building and the staff within it will inspire learners both now and in the future to achieve their best and be successful citizens.”
After the ceremony some of the school’s year six pupils led guided tours of the distinctively-shaped £4 million building, which occupies a 2.45-hectare site.
The council’s director of families and wellbeing, Kath O’Dwyer, said:
“Warrington Borough Council is delighted to be able to deliver new school premises that will provide a wonderful learning environment for the school’s two hundred pupils.
“I’d like to thank Mr Toyne, and the school staff and governors, and especially the children, for the very warm welcome and the wonderful entertainment. We wish the whole school the very best for the coming decades.”
